It's believed that the telescopic dog ramp came to be after a hapless pirate trapped his thumb in a folding dog ramp one more time than he deemed necessary. Scouring the world around him, the pirate took inspiration from his trusty telescope and used the clever mechanics to create the world's first telescopic dog ramp.
Of course, in those days the ramp was mainly used to help the ships aging seadog disembark with a certain amount of dignity. However, the legend goes that other pirate vessels soon caught on and telescopic dog ramps became the go to method for loading and unloading gold, whisky and contraband.
